SHAKE IT OFF: AFRO DANCE

BY JOHN HARRIS FITNESS

Fitness If you want to end your workout with a real power kick, you should definitely try our Afro Dance Workout. It is specially designed to take place at the end of a training session and therefore only lasts 15 minutes. And that's enough? Absolutely, because the continuous dancing is quite exhausting, trains your muscles and shapes your body. However, the fun and group dynamics make the effort fade into the background and turn the class into an unforgettable experience that burns a lot of calories by the way. But what exactly is Afro Dance?

The origins of the workout

As the name suggests, Afro Dance has its origins in Africa and is based on the original roots of dance. In African culture, dance has always had a special role and is often danced with a specific purpose, such as rain or healing. That the musical accompaniment is of enormous importance in this process is proven by the fact alone that in many African countries there is no word for music as we understand it. Expressions with this content always imply a mixture of music and dance, so one does not exist without the other.

In addition, the techniques are always very close to nature, and so is our Afro Dance. Your center and the connection with the ground are of great importance. The rhythmic variety of movements characterizes this dance style as well as the rich symbolism and gesticulation. Your own body is the focus of the dance steps and serves as your very own rhythm instrument, expressing pure joy of life. The power released by the high vitality stimulates the body's own energy flow and thus provides extra power in everyday life.

Through the dynamic movement sequences and the concentration on oneself, body and mind should be brought into harmony. This not only gives strength, but also reduces tension, imbalances and stress. Due to the short duration of the training units, you can go full throttle all the time and really exhaust yourself.

At the same time, however, you will also gain new strength and clear your head by concentrating on rhythm and dance. You will learn to dance with full body effort, because in Afro Dance everything really moves. Don't worry so much about how you look, just feel the rhythm in your body and move with full vigor. Afro Dance is a lot of fun and you can burn calories and get new energy at the same time.
